My Story

I was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and spent much of my childhood living wherever my dad Patrick was coaching football. For the most part that meant living in the South, and Alabama in particular.

I graduated from Pinson Valley HS near Birmingham, where I had the chance to play for my dad and win a couple state titles.

I fulfilled a lifelong dream of playing college football at Auburn, where I graduated and got my undergraduate degree – and met my wife, Izzy Smoke.

The Lord blessed me with an opportunity to continue my college career at Oregon and Izzy and I enjoyed two incredible years in Eugene.

Now I’m living another dream — playing quarterback in the NFL for the Denver Broncos. I’ll never forget that feeling on Draft night being surrounded by family and friends when my name was called in the first round. I’m so excited to be part of Broncos Country and ready to do whatever it takes to bring another Super Bowl to this proud organization.

Football is in our family’s blood. My dad starred at Auburn and my grandad is a high school coaching legend. My brothers Caleb (Clemson) and Tez Johnson (Oregon) are also playing college football.

I give my mom, Krista, and my two sisters, Emma Grace and Sara a ton of credit for being so supportive to all of us. They’re the real stars of the family.

“Faith, family, and football” might be a cliche, but I think it’s a good way to describe my life and what I value the most.
